SPSA 2027 Deadline Extended to 9/15

The Southern Political Science Association is requesting academic paper and panel proposals for its 98th Annual Meeting taking place in St. Pete Beach, FL, January 13-16, 2027.

The SPSA is excited to invite scholars from across the U.S. and around the world to participate in our Annual Meeting. The meeting will provide a forum for sharing ideas, research results, and professional insights in a collegial setting.

You can submit your proposals using this year’s SPSA All Academic website:

https://convention2.allacademic.com/one/spsa/spsa27/

Even if you presented at a previous conference, you will need to create a new username and password for this year’s system.

Proposals are due September 1.  Please contact the SPSA at info@spsa.net if you have any questions.

Submit Proposals for Conferences within a Conference (CwC)

Every year the SPSA hosts a number of Conference Within a Conference meetings that take place during the January Annual Meeting. CwCs are an opportunity to discuss a shared research agenda, create a beginning or mid-point meeting to advance work for an edited volume, or to highlight interesting developments in a field of study. 2026’s SPSA meeting included CWCs on “Election Administration,” “Courts in Context,” “Generative Language Models in Political Science Research,” and “Ancient and Modern: Theory and Practice,” among other topics. CwCs are submitted directly to spsa.conference@spsa.net rather than through the AllAcademic system, so please reach out if you are interested in organizing one.

Volunteer for Discussant/Chair Roles

The SPSA relies on the expertise of our members to put on a successful conference every year. Attendees who are interested in serving as a panel chair or discussant should email spsa.conference@spsa.net to volunteer, including a description of their areas of expertise so we can match them to an appropriate panel.
