SPSA Summer Meeting Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 2022 SPSA Summer Meeting?

The Summer Meeting, which will take place on June 16th and June 17th, 2022, is an opportunity for SPSA members to participate in a virtual meeting that is an extension of the Annual Conference.  Conference panels can reconvene in a “Second Session” online in June to continue discussions, discuss project revisions, and otherwise exchange ideas about the work first presented at the January meeting.  Summer Meeting participants can also present e-poster displays of research unrelated to the January meeting, and receive feedback from attendees who attend the virtual poster session.

Who can attend the Summer Meeting?

Anyone interested in political science research can attend the meeting.  Those who were registered attendees of the 2022 Annual Conference in San Antonio (including those who attended virtually) are automatically registered for the Summer Meeting.  Those who wish to attend the Summer Meeting, but did not attend the Annual Conference, can register for the Summer Meeting via the Summer Meeting Registration Page (details to follow).

What does the Summer Meeting cost?

Any paid registration at the 2022 Annual Conference covers registration for the Summer Meeting.  There is therefore no additional cost for those attendees.  Anyone who did not register for the 2022 Annual Conference, but wishes to present their work at the 2022 Summer Meeting can pay a reduced Summer Meeting registration rate.  The Summer Meeting Only rates are as follows:

  • Professional SPSA Member: $85
  • Student: $65
  • Retired: $65
  • Non-Member Professional: $175

How can I submit a proposal to the Summer Meeting?

Electronic Poster proposals can be emailed to spsa.conference@spsa.net (250 word maximum).  Please include your name and academic or professional affiliation as part of your proposal.  Second Session panel proposals can also be emailed to spsa.conference@spsa.net.  It is not necessary that Second Sessions include ALL January participants, but please do include the names of the interested participants in the proposal email.

How do I participate?

All registered participants will receive the Summer Meeting’s website address and login credentials via email in early June.  You can participate via your web browser, and the meeting’s schedule and content will be available through information and links on the website.
