2023 SPSA Summer Meeting

Meeting Events and Content:

1. SPSA Committee Meetings. The SPSA has over a dozen committees with various responsibilities. Each committee will receive a time slot during the Summer Meeting to convene virtually and make progress on those responsibilities. Award committees will have received paper and book nominations by June 1st and can use the meeting to discuss the merits of the submissions under consideration. Status committees can discuss plans for conference programming at the January meeting.
2. Second Sessions. We will advertise the opportunity to reconvene 2022 Conference panels at the virtual meeting. Panels interested in meeting again can reconnect with one another and discuss how paper revisions are going, report on journal responses to submissions, etc. We anticipate that several "Conference Within a Conference" panels will extend their discussions into the summer virtual meeting.
3. Asynchronous Virtual Poster Session. Attendees will be invited to submit original work to a poster session, which will take place throughout the virtual meeting. Virtual posters can be in the form of PowerPoint slides, Word documents, PDFs, or video recordings. Attendees will be able to drop into a virtual room dedicated to a virtual poster, where they can read or view the poster's content and leave feedback via a feedback form available in each virtual room. Attendees who provide feedback to posters will have the option to leave their email addresses so the poster's author can reply to their comments.
4. Professional Development Workshops. The KiND Institute will be offering two workshops during the Summer Meeting.
5. Trivia Game. Just as we did for the 2021 virtual conference, we plan to host a Thursday, June 16th evening Trivia Game as a virtual social event at 8 pm Eastern. The game allows attendees to play as teams and is hosted by a professional trivia game host.

Panel/Committee Meeting schedule

Panels and committee meetings will be scheduled  into one hour and twenty minute sessions with a 10 minute break after each session. The sessions will begin at 8 am Eastern Time and run through 7:50 pm.

Attendees and attendee costs:

Everyone who registered for the 2023 Annual Conference in St. Pete Beach, FL is automatically registered for the SPSA2023 Summer Meeting. The January conference registration fee covers the conference and the virtual meeting in June. SPSA members who want to attend the SPSA2023 Summer Meeting only (perhaps to present a poster or to participate in a panel as a new member invited by the panel participants) will be charged an $85 registration fee ($65 for students). Nonmembers will be charged $175. No refunds will be given.
