Membership in the SPSA
The SPSA supports research through a variety of awards and grants, including the Diane Blair Award for political scientist who has played an outstanding role in politics and/or government during their career at the local, state, national or international level, the Marian Irish Award for the Outstanding Women and Politics Paper and the Manning Dauer Award.

Regular membership, depending on preference for electronic or print receipt of the JOP, includes online access or print and online access to the Journal of Politics (JOP).
Membership Categories:
- Professional Membership (for those who are actively involved in the field)
- Retired Membership (for individuals who are retired but wish to remain active in the field)
- Student Membership (for graduate students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university)
Membership Benefits:
- The Journal of Politics: Receive four electronic or four print and electronic issues of one of the most respected journals in the field. All SPSA memberships are allowed convenient online access to issues from the current volume and the past several volumes of the JOP. Through arrangements with our new publisher, the University of Chicago Press, members will have open access to the latest edition of the Journal and be able to download entire issues or portions thereof.
- Discounted registration for the SPSA Annual Conference. The Conference is one of the largest and most important Political Science conferences in the United States.
- Member Newsletter: Receive the SPSA E-Newsletter.
- Untenured Faculty Members are eligible to apply for the Artinian Awards to support travel to the Annual SPSA Conference.
- Graduate Student Members are eligible to apply for the Prestage-Cook Travel Award to support travel to the Annual SPSA Conference.
- An opportunity to participate in the governance of SPSA as an officer, council member, or as a member of one of the Association’s committees.
