James C. Garand Mentoring Award Announcement

The Southern Political Science Association is pleased to announce a new award for outstanding mentoring in Political Science has been created to honor James C. Garand, the Emogene Pliner Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Louisiana State University and past president of the Southern Political Science Association.  The award is intended to recognize outstanding mentors in political science. The award is open to anyone who mentors undergraduate students, graduate students, or junior faculty. Anyone who wishes to nominate a candidate for the award should submit a one page letter detailing the mentoring contributions along with the signatures or names of at least two other individuals who support the nomination to spsa.finance@spsa.net.

The award comes with a $500.00 stipend and was made possible by an endowment from Kenneth J. Meier.
