Dear Political Science community,

As most of you know, on 1 January 2021 Vera Troeger as lead editor, Cameron Thies as deputy and a new team of associate editors have taken over the editorship of the JOP. As the JOP is one of the leading journals in the profession, we strive to publish the best work created across all sub-fields. Since the composition of the team was publicized, it became obvious that specific expertise in political theory is lacking. We have been in discussions on this issue since December 2020 with previous political theory field editors, editorial board members and the SPSA leadership. Since we are operating a completely different editorial process than the previous team, we hoped to make up for this lack in expertise with more checks and balances and the support of the editorial board. We also decided back in December to keep an eye on potential editorial bias affecting submissions in political theory (and all other fields) and to revisit the composition of the editorial team during 2021. Since then we have been in touch with political theorists and have started looking into potential additions to the team. We fully intend to add a political theorist to the editorial team by the end of the year.

The JOP Editorial Team.
